Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

The mission of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History is to enlighten the public by developing and presenting fundamental knowledge of natural history research, so as to teach and inspire a lifelong passion and abiding respect for the natural world. The Museum features 11 exhibit halls, focusing on regional natural history, including birds, insects, mammals, marine life, paleontology, Native Americans and the Chumash Indians. Since its founding in 1916, the Museum has grown steadily in all programs, establishing major collections in anthropology, earth sciences, and zoology, producing major scientific works and offering educational programs to school children and adults.
