Kids In Crisis

Kids In Crisis' (KIC) mission is to build healthy communities where children and families thrive through prevention, counseling, and crisis services available 24/7, every day of the year. KIC has provided critical crisis prevention and intervention programs and services to 161,000 children, newborn to age 18, and their families since 1978. All are provided for free. KIC's goals are to:1.Ensure that children receive immediate counseling, interventions, and/or shelter most appropriate to their needs; 2.Provide prevention services to children, youth, and adults that promote the knowledge and skills needed to reduce the likelihood of abuse and trauma, and identify and manage problems before they escalate to crises; and 3.Take a leadership role in identifying and advocating for the needs of children and youth in Connecticut and beyond. KIC's forward thinking has enabled it to continue to meet the needs of the community as demographics and government policies have changed over 43 years.
