Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Our vision is an Orange County where everyone has a decent place to live. Since its founding in 1984, Habitat has built 282 new homes in Orange County, and has repaired 130 homes. Habitat provides homeownership opportunities to families who live and/or work in Orange County, earn between 30% and 60% of the area median income ($25,440 to $50,880 for a family of four), and are living in housing that is inaccessible, overcrowded, subsidized, substandard, unaffordable, and/or unsafe. Families contribute 275 hours of sweat equity towards the construction of their own homes and their neighbors' homes. They attend educational workshops to prepare them for homeownership, and purchase their homes from Habitat through affordable mortgages. In their new homes, families have the shelter they need to build strength, stability, and self-reliance.
