Center for People in Need

The Center for People in Need provides services and programs to low-income people that address their basic needs and help them achieve economic independence. The Center has been fighting poverty in Lincoln, NE since 2003. We are the Food Bank of Lincoln's largest partner, distributing food 5 days each week to more than 5,400 families in 2021. Through a strategic partnership with the Junior League of Lincoln, we co-founded Lincoln's first and only Diaper Bank, which serves individual families and other agencies in the community. We believe education is the key to helping people obtain financial independence. As such, we've developed education and training programs to help people obtain employment with a living wage, including English language learning classes, a community college scholarship program, a community reentry program, and a tech career development program. We also advocate for regulations and legislation to remove the barriers that trap people in the cycle of poverty.
